Being new to this record label business, I was wondering if anyone knew of any cool web sites or blogs that review independent records? I would like to send out some freebies of my record to bloggers to post reviews with links to my website.
Next question, I'm not sure if it's common, but would anyone who runs other record labels would be interested in doing trades? for instance, my release for one of your releases?

Re: Questions for independent labels
You could send some records to radio stations or podcasts that support independent labels. WFMU would be a great pick, they play stacks of independent music, and there are so many different DJs with different styles that someone would probably like it and play it. Downside is you're at the mercy of freeform, you can't pay them to play it so there's no guarantee it'll get airtime.

Hey Sean, email me at jettkoral@gmail.com with any questions you may have. I run a label, and I could help you out in some ways if you would like. Also know some sites that would review the record.

There are a TON out there... some are more "selective" about what they review, they all have slightly different genres. The best thing to do is to check out the site & read up on it before you contact them/send stuff for review. I know for me it's only worth sending stuff if they say they review everything they get (but thats just because i only set 1 or 2 aside for promo purposes)
Some good ways to find others is look up one & find their friends or recommended sites page & just go from there... it'll turn into an endless list of reviewers/blogs/labels.

I've never been focused on selling quantities so I've never tried this route. However, knowing what's possible is good info.
