The blogger is quoted in an article is entitled "The Top 20 Whitest Musicians of All Time". Props to the LA Weekly for its cutting edge, poignant reporting, and ongoing cultural sensitivity.
 And *thanks for the topic repair*, hon. You rock, as always.

Then again, if nobody cared about anybody else's opinions, internet forums would be awful quiet (except stuff like "ISO TD and s/t split" and such).

Yeah, but it's not like that LA Weekly writer is going to come in here and discuss her opinion with us.

No, but there might be some interested in discussing her view--as Jack seems to be suggesting people do, in fact, by drawing attention to such an obviously provocative quote on his site. (Though anybody frequenting Jack's site would be likely to disagree with it anyway--perhaps he just wants us to practice our scornful laughs.)

An ignorant opinion is even less worthy of attention, much less fang baring. Unless it's an influential ignorant opinion, which hers does not appear to be.
i keep wondering about this comment relative to the 'defanging' of jack and its not like i have an opinion but it does offer cause to pause and consider the cycle of violence :!: when it comes to press impact and media profusion ... surely you are not suggesting that the LA Weekly has no influence upon its readers and most certainly you are not discounting the idea that the commercial and fiscal agents associated with this publication would not be wise and do well when it comes to review the matter of racism :geek:

Honestly ignorance being broadcast in our media domain is one of the greatest forms of sinister disease in our nation and as a form of destructive humanity that exists

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/tue-j ... statements

it is the sort of evil that strips children from the loving arms of their parents and exposes them to the toxic wasteland of commercialism before they can barely walk

http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-j ... r-fox-sake

but i guess its not worthy of our attention or our direct and proactive efforts to correct it in no uncertain terms? wow... this is no debate... it is statement of fact

no offense intended to you Kali/Tam but anyone who would holds this sort of opinion may well need a decent retort as we both look in the face of evil in our midst

Quote on JWIII Website / Jack White Intro Page

Post by abesupreme »

"His songs are often little more than de-fanged blues, lacking the passion and grizzled realness that makes the genre speak to so many people."
-Linda Leseman

This is the quote displayed prominately on the Jack White III page.

I would kinda view this as an insult... granted I have not seen the full article/review from which this quote came. I am puzzled as to why he would display this quote...

I hope it is it some kind of "punk rock" self effacing humor...

I don't think anyone knows why he chose to put it on his website though.
Irony, maybe? It's been there for quite a while now.

New media diss quote added to Jack's home page.

"The last time I saw him play was probably ten years ago...
But for all the skill he's exhibited in bands like Dead Weather and Raconteurs, he's lost that touch of rawness that made music lovers like me fans in the first place."

^^ Haha!! I just this morning read the post that's from-- http://blogs.houstonpress.com/rocks/201 ... _white.php One of the most subjective "reviews" I've ever read. Definitely a blog and not a review (as Patrick Keeler would say ;) )

At this rate, his entry page is going to end up being nothing but a long list of quotes from negative reviews. He cracks me up.

wow... that was like a 'Whats in your Jack White?' commercial for hipsters.... i challenge any of these blog writers to do in a year what this man does in a week on a regular basis... i think people have gotten uncomfortable with Jack being comfortable with the world and set of business/professional relations that he has made his own... im not hatin them for having an opinion but it seems a little too easy and maybe a touch more contrived for some slacker from Austin to pick Jack White out in a crowd and decide that they know what it means to be Jack White now isnt it?? Can'o Jack WhoopAss anyone?

I loooove seeing the quotes up on his page. But I surely hope that should some guy write some blather that's appropriate for Jack's home page, that goes up there. Right now it's two chicks dissing him. Which might fit with some sort of BB-esque theme, but still....

Perhaps only women have been able to write snarky reviews with enough wit to appeal to him.

maybe it just comes down to Jack not being simple and straight forward anymore which leaves the guys just lookin for him to rock out in a raw and primal way and love it or possibly be baffled by it while the women who listen to it seem to want to get tangled in all that conv11oluted contortion...i think his creative complexities as frailties are out in the open for everyone speculate but its only the women who seem to feel the need to get equally convoluted about what they think is going on

wake me when your broke... but only if its broken ... Just like a woman ... cut a record on my throat,
Then you break me wide open ... You're a prick with a pin woman,

it just screams 'hey chicks!! 'just try and even figure out what all this means'....

as opposed to some typical guy oriented lyrics jack chooses such as John the Revelator or or Seven Nation Army
