Really surprised to see Los Straitjackets on here.

Listened to the samples on Amazon the other day.... absolutely terrible. It was difficult to make it through all the samples.

Received this last night and listened to it on the way to work this morning. Quite a mixed bag. Wanda's cover is unfortunate, but I blame Shooter Jennings for it. Jack has shown that she can do better, Shooter obviously doesn't know how to get it out of her and his contributions to the song make it really horrible.
Steady As She Goes, Trash Tongue Talker, and Another Way to Die are all terrific. Very cool and interesting to hear the latter two turned from piano songs into filthy guitar songs.
I started to not like Seven Nation Army, but then realized that back when I was in high school and into British New Wave I would have loved it, so that made it better.
Fly Farm Blues is both hilarious and awesome. It summons up a vivid image (for me, at least) of an old Elvis impersonator in a spangly white jumpsuit in some dive-y bar in Arizona or someplace, but it rocks.
Blunderbuss is... interesting. I give Rosie Flores props for taking it so far from the original, but I don't like it.
Top Yourself is also hilarious, but not in a good way. It's so freaking serious and self-conscious, I literally laughed until there were tears in my eyes.
Icky is almost unrecognizable, but pretty damned good.
I had to scan the liner notes this morning, they're one of the best things about this comp--

"And the message is clear: if we want Jack White as our hero, he will entertain, but not pander. We have to accept all his flaws, whims, caprices and manias as a critical, sometimes uncomfortable, part of the contract."
