I caught Karen at Le Poisson Rouge in NYC last night. She has a delightful stage presence and a great range of songs. I'm very excited for the LP to come out. My favorite so far is The Truth Is In The Dirt. I'm confident she could hold her own, though its nice to have TMR on lift off.

Met Olivia Jean (from the Black Belles - a real darling), BP Fallon, and sat at a table next to Annie Lebovitz. Most impressive were the handful of little roomers there, and the sight of a White Stripes guitar case.

Karen Elson will be taking the songs from her highly anticipated debut release The Ghost Who Walks on the road for a 7-city series of dates in June which will include a stop in Los Angeles and a special appearance in New York City with Grizzly Bear & Band of Horses.

The Ghost Who Walks was recorded at Third Man Studios in Tennessee with Jack White as producer, and while it marks Karen’s solo debut, she has spent 6 years as a founding member of New York City-based political cabaret The Citizens Band and has been involved in several musical projects over the past few years, including adding her vocals to tracks for Robert
Plant and recording a duet with Cat Power for a Serge Gainsbourg tribute album (“Je Taime Moi Non Plus”).

This incredibly elegant and haunting album features 12 songs - 11 original compositions by Karen and 1 cover of a song by her Citizens Band cohort Rachelle Garniez, and will be released via Third Man/XL Recordings on May 25th.
