So, nothing on the lineup change? Nobody sayin' what/why?

the general idea is that the keys player is likely working with another band right now... OJ says that they do not audition new players and prefers a 3 piece

Just got back from the Belles show at The Comet. Took my son for his 13th birthday. Got a stack of singles signed. Conner got the set list (signed). I told Shelby it was his 13th birthday and she gave him one of her sticks. We chatted with them for a bit...all very friendly. Erin (remember her?) was there, and they dedicated Dead Shoe to her. Great set. Great time.

(I'll snap a picture of his set list and stick tomorrow, and add it to this post.)

The Comet show was a good time! Very happy Conner got the signed setlist and drumstick! Great 13th birthday presents!
I got a little something, too :D
Image

The 3 Belles signed the tri and I got Olivia's pic from the floor.
I only wanted to be good enough, but I'm not.

Interview at Spinner with Olivia Jean:
http://www.spinner.com/2012/06/13/black ... interview/
. . .

Jean also performed to larger audiences as a bassist for Jackson and White's ex-wife, Karen Elson.

"I think it was also to help me get a little experience being in front of those types of crowds because this is somewhat new to me, this whole world," she says. "It was a great experience and I'm glad I did it, and he knew I love Wanda Jackson, so it was like a giant present to be able to play bass with her."

Thankfully, Jean hasn't felt any resentment or jealousy from fellow musicians due to White's help.

"We don't really think about that. We're just doing what we like to do," she says. "If questions arise about what it's like to work with Jack, we love working with Jack. He's been nothing but helpful to us. He's been a friend and mentor since the beginning, but I don't think other people think it's weird that we've had this upper hand. We all played music before we started this thing and we're just doing what we love and we got given a really huge gift by being able to be part of this project and we just work really hard and we try to share that with other bands. We're trying to work hard and if Jack's going to be behind us and help us and support us, we just look at in a positive light."

Re: BLACK BELLES / MORE THREADS

Post by DeeBee »

I noticed from the first page that there was a two-year gap in this thread, from December 2009 to January 2012. A lot happened in those two years, including The Black Belles appearing on the Colbert Report, and also releasing an album. So I figured that there are other threads around here that relate to the band.

I went looking for them, but the search function is not easy, because it returns every single post instead of a list of topics related to the query. And I'm not going to sort through ten or twenty pages of search results. But I did find a few threads related to The Black Belles, so I figured it might be useful to list the links here:

So was Erin a keyboard player or something else? She looks like she is older than OJ ... anyone know if she is or not?

not meaning any disrespect by that question at all but the heirarchy thing is definitely in play here as far as i can tell
