Just got home. The song was recorded direct to acetate in Australia during their 2000 tour. Song was awesome. Not sure how they played it, it was from the booth area up at the back of the blue room. I took pretty good notes of the whole evening. I'll try and transcribe them here sometime this evening. I've got a maybe 4 or 5 note cards, front and back, with scribbles from the night.

I heard it was on an Edison cylinder. And by heard I mean I just thought of it now.

I've never taken notes for something like this before and don't remember how good they are. Wine was complimentary and by the time the panel started, I was two drinks in, and it was dark and I couldn't see what I was writing. So, with all those excuses out of the way, I'll do my best to get them written down right now...

If you folks can wait, we'll make this available as a podcast (minus the songs) as soon as we can.

Oh well crap, I guess that would be better than the notes I took.

I can wait for the full podcast if you guys answer me two questions... Was the Stripes song original or a cover? And Ben (if you're at liberty to reveal) was it from tape or vinyl?

EDIT: I'm an idiot, I've already been told it was straight to acetate. Derp.

It wasn't a George Strait cover (if that's the song you are thinking of).

Cool, cool. If it was an unreleased Stripes original I may have to form a small army and invade the Vault Crusades-style.

It was an unreleased Stripes original (as far as I know).

Damn. Congrats to those who got to hear it. I suppose it's cool knowing there are original Stripes songs in the world that I haven't heard. It's like it isn't over or something. :D I look forward to the podcast to hear the stories.
