Detroit Dead Weather Cipher

When you designed the Detroit Dead Weather poster which came first the image or the cipher?
I guess the cipher as I did not figure the image out until my third attempt at making deadline. I knew I wanted to use the cipher from “Gold Bug” off the bat as it fit with the themes of disguise found in Sea of Cowards.
I originally just wanted to feature Poe in a room with a dead raven on the floor next to a broken bust of Athena, but I couldn’t get proper period photos to work out the image at the time of composition.
