When you toll away in your labyrinth sweat box to design a poster how do you edit yourself? Is there someone you use as a source for criticism and feedback?
Mainly Todd Slater and my wife, Jenni. I’ve trashed stuff I found a fair amount of satisfaction with because Jenni called it boring. She probably holds back a lot when she knows the clock’s ticking and I’m stressed out.
Todd provides a perfect sounding board as we speak frankly and without euphemism about each other’s work. I prefer folks that appreciate curtness as it saves a lot of time.
Miles Johnson at Third Man also holds an aesthetic sensibility I trust. When petitioned, he offers great suggestions for improving the clarity of a design.

I always said, if I had to fuck a guy... I mean had to, if my life depended on it... I'd fuck Elvis.
