Dead Weather Poster Desisgn Inspiration

Post by MegBot3000 »

Can you expand a little bit on your inspiration for your Dead Weather poster designs?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nothing revelatory on the way to Damascus, I just tried making posters that evoke the lyrics and sounds of the band. In this case, I attempted to infuse the images with a nihilistic tone, as the voices on Horehound seemed to creak through gritted tombstone teeth. My default idea relied upon depicting people guarding themselves against pain and vulnerability. I wanted the images to have dark vibrations that for the most part felt modern in hopes of preventing any sort of glib goth interpretation of the band.

I started leaving the year off the posters pretty quickly (after the second one I think) because I felt having it on there suggested a potential future. I broke this rule on occasion though if the additional text aided the layout.
