People should stop when they have either no more talent or no more enthusiasm, IMO. Everybody else, carry on.

Which reminds me, if Bowie isn't retired after all, how about you, Jimmy Page????

I really thought he had just retired to retain the mystique, pay the bills off the back of his old classics with reissues every 10 years - and that we'd never see him again until his death was announced some time down the line....

Have been a Bowie fan since I was 12 - am 43 now. When I was 14 I thought rock stars should retire at 30. Ziggy was one of the first records I ever bought... Still have that pressing even though my 2 kids (now 13 & 14) used it to play DJ on our old apartment wooden floor when they were toddlers - and my copy of Hunky Dory - rendering both unplayable. The oldest one of them is now collecting his own yinyls (Green Day - you can't win 'em all) and for that reason alone it was all worth it.

I quite like the new one - but Berlin is also the city I have the fondest drunken memories of (everyone should visit Berlin at some point) so it's quite evocative.

Bowie has released a lot of howlers since Lets Dance - but every now and then... he poops a golden egg. Don't write him off yet.

I heard it yesterday and breathed a sigh of relief. IMO it's the best thing he's done for years. Kinda has a 'Five Years' vibe to it

If he does Glastonbury I will be making my first visit there. Great news!

I didn't like it. Sometime you have to listen to the whole Bowie albums to appreciate the parts.

Did you like Heathen?

It does sound a bit like that, in particular his voice.
By all accounts the rest of the album is rockier

I've been a huge Bowie fan since I was a kid. Seen him 3 times too. For me Scary Monsters was his last great album. Let's Dance was good too but after that I didn't care for anything very much

I am about half through it so far. Youre underplaying how awesome this is. This is easily going to be one of my favorite albums this year.

Welcome back David. You have been missed.

a tour is apparently not going to happen, I've read more than once that while recording this new album, those involved would ask Bowie "how are we going to do this live?" and he would respond "we're not."
