The Eternal 7" – A 1st in Vinyl History (MCA / Beastie Boys)

Post by KNARF »

Beastie Boys & Vinyl fans,

Check out this record that serves to carry forward Adam Yauch’s eternal message of world peace that’s celebrated on MCA-DAY–an annual tribute event honoring the life of musician & humanitarian of the legendary Beastie Boys.
At this year's event, the official MCA-DAY vinyl record was unveiled. It's called the Eternal 7".
Auction proceeds are donated to The Adam Yauch Foundation.

VINYL HISTORY: We’ve seen glowing records & die-cuts done simply for aesthetic reasons, but this marks the first time a Glow-in-the-Dark record inserted into a Die-Cut jacket creates a message–to keep MCA’s memory alive. Regardless of darkness, it "Can't, Won't, and Doesn't Stop" shining–just like Adam Yauch. That's why it's the Eternal 7".

Five copies numbered out of 10 were won by fans during a trivia contest at the MCA-DAY event on August 20th, 2016 at Littlefield, Brooklyn, NY.
The remaining copies in this numbered series of 10 are being auctioned here:

1st Auction: http://www.ebay.com/itm/162176641229?ss ... 1561.l2649

NOTABLE FEATURES: This vinyl glows RED unlike the common green. And magically it's milky-white in daylight. The vinyl is VERY heavy–feels like 300 gram! The jacket is a very heavy stock too with metallic foil printing on both sides and a coating that's fingerprint-proof.
Yes, all the stops were pulled out for the legendary Adam Yauch!

INFO ABOUT THE RECORDING: ADAM YAUCH FOR WORLD PEACE (Live from the U.S. Capitol)
On June 15th, 1998 Adam Yauch along with members of Congress, human rights activists and musicians gathered at the U.S. Capitol to stage a rally in support for human rights in Tibet. Preserved on this very limited Eternal 7" is Yauch’s message of world peace from that day.
This record has not and will never be commercially produced or sold.

Very cool.
"And the message is clear: if we want Jack White as our hero, he will entertain, but not pander. We have to accept all his flaws, whims, caprices and manias as a critical, sometimes uncomfortable, part of the contract."

Only 10 of these were made?
5 have been sold in the last month or so:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... Complete=1

And 2 more live right now:
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R ... sc=0&rt=nc

So was there really only 10 and you kept them all....or was there WAY more made?
