Is there anything we can do to block them? I've noticed 3 such instances of spammers posting so far, not to mention the ones that I didn't see.

Good timing! We've be discussing that. It does seem to be becoming a regular nuisance lately. We're working on a solution.

Also, does this increase in spamming heighten any risk of our personal information, such as email addresses and passwords.

I really don't think so. None of that info is accessible to members. You can email or PM someone, but you can't see their actual address. Ian should chime in though, he's the website guy.

No, it's just phishers.. people who want you to click their links and "buy" phoney stuff. Also, I can't see anyone's passwords or anything

ReCAPTCHA keeps out about 95% of them but it's gradually becoming less effective (on the LR anyway)

Well, we have a visual confirmation thingy but that's not really working it seems.. Apparently on phpBB boards if you get rid of the "phpBB" at the bottom it'll get rid of most spammers. I'll try it out next week when I'm home.

Are you referring to actually posting it on the boards, typing it in PM's, or typing it in like that when we register for the site?

I just banned 3 users for spamming or spam suspicion. We must look like a tasty board for spammers. It's like an infestation in here.

We shouldn't give anyone the benefit of the doubt. I saw some suspicious post from this Kevron guy yesterday....I think you mods should ban him.
