Record Cases/Boxes/Carriers
A discussion started in the recent acquisition thread about record boxes/cases/carriers. What do you have? Anything beyond the WS/TMR related boxes? Post some pics of yours, discuss how to find boxes, and what boxes you prefer.
I really like the Triad boxes as I know several others do. The Columbia boxes are pretty solid as well, but I've noticed that at least the 12" boxes I've held don't have a wooden top, it's a thick cardboard type material glued to the rest of the top that is then covered. Not sure about the 7" boxes. I've got a few around the house I'll take pics of this evening and post. A few auctions until then -

Re: Record Cases/Boxes/Carriers
Those are all 45 boxes that I have picked up at antique stores. The first 4 are very similar to the WS boxes. The blue one is some sort of vinyl or vinyl like material instead of cardboard, and it is SUPER sturdy. I feel like I could fill it with 45s and walk down the street carrying it by the handle and nothing bad would happen.

Top two: flea market find, $20 and they had about 100 45s in them. If you have ever traded or bought with me, this is where my green 45 sleeves came from. Now, it is full of random 45s.
Brown "ambassador": antique mall in Nitro, WV. I got this, an original pressing of Vitalogy, and the Amboy Dukes "Journey to the center of the mind" 45 for $20. This one holds my TMR tris and rarities.
Bottom: homemade wooden carrier, $20 at Digital Planet in Murfreesboro, TN. This big guy holds 100+ and is home to my Vault 45s and standard TMR releases.
If there is a lesson to be learned here, it is dig deeply in unexpected places! You will likely not have to pay $30 or more for a quality case.

Daaamn, that brown one is huge! Love the handle.mangry wrote:Top two: flea market find, $20 and they had about 100 45s in them. If you have ever traded or bought with me, this is where my green 45 sleeves came from. Now, it is full of random 45s.

The one on the left is a "Carol Industries Inc." box. It holds all my trade/sale records and I take it to shows. About half of all the stickers I put on it stay stuck, RRS stickers hate it.
The next one over is a restoration project, will probably hold 50-60 LPs after I fix it up and reinforce it.
The third is a cheap platter pack that holds my sleeves and supplies.
The 7" is a 70s pressed board box covered in vinyl. Sturdy, but not made out of real wood like the old ones where you can see the grain inside. I have another 7" box in the garage but it's working holding a bunch of nuts and bolts. I also have the TMR ones to date as well as a few of the WS ones. Oh, and a vinyl Star Wars 7" box for the good stuff....

Re: Record Cases/Boxes/Carriers
What else do they sell at digital planet? Is it worth the short drive out that way from Nashville to check out. That looks like a nice 45 box.mangry wrote:Top two: flea market find, $20 and they had about 100 45s in them. If you have ever traded or bought with me, this is where my green 45 sleeves came from. Supercase is on eBay all the time, just start watching and choose a price you are comfortable with paying.
