Re: Post your most recent acquisition
The rarest and last piece of CAKE vinyl for my collection (until something new is produced). Only the 5th copy I've heard about (3 owners on Discogs and an eBay sale in 2010).

Something different.
Last summer Holly Golightly put up some of her old clothes for sale on Facebook. Among the cool vintage dresses and such I found a familiar item. The jacket she used to wear all the time during the early 2000's. I've seen so many photos of her wearing that jacket, including one with her wearing it while recording "It's True That We Love One Another" with the White Stripes at Toe Rag. She was even wearing it for the inserts of her album "Truly She Is None Other".
I wasn't sure what to do with it if I bought it, so I hesitated. But back in October I was showing my wife Mandy and she said she wouldn't mind having something like that for herself, to wear. Especially given the provenance. So I contacted Holly about buying it as a Christmas gift for Mandy and she never got back to me. Christmas came and went.
But then a couple weeks ago she contacted me, said it was still available and she'd be willing to sell it as a late Christmas gift. So I jumped on it. Long story short, Mandy absolutely loves it and I think it's beyond cool.
OH! And Holly included a nice note for Mandy in the package. What a cool touch.
I was tempted to put it on a display downstairs with some photos or something but Mandy loves it enough to wear it. So cool.

that's not a bad bit of gear to have; keep all the info for proof and you've got yourself some memorabilia!

Re: Post your most recent acquisition
I'm pretty sure Mandy has decided she wants to display it instead of wearing it. But it's completely up to her. If she wants to display it we'll get a dress form and do it right. I know it's not a huge piece of memorabilia but it was in the room where it happened. That's pretty cool.love_islander wrote:that's not a bad bit of gear to have; keep all the info for proof and you've got yourself some memorabilia!

I think this is the second pressing. Looks to be in top shape. Still have to give it a spin.

Excellent record. I've got a couple pressing, but I'm still looking for an original.Dr.Zissou wrote:

man, i saw junior play a chicago blues club maybe thirty years ago. he tore it up as i remember and on a number of occasions admonished his backing band for not being quick enough for him.gst510 wrote:Excellent record. Random eBay find for the right price. Impulse buy. But still cool.
