As mentioned in the other thread, there are some serial sellers there who are now seeking out releases to resell them on the Vinyl Record Raffle page. No fees, no risk, and no accountability other than a smile and track record taking advantage of people. What perhaps started as a way of moving records among collectors has turned into a flippers paradise. It's grown into quite a tight group too. When I recently pointed out that you could buy a near identical item for $100 less, despite raising a few eyebrows my comment ultimately boosted someone's raffle participation. The moderators of the page have discussed the issue several times but seem fine with a 50% profit margin for "sellers". Ian's right. It's gambling and illegal according to FB and Paypal's terms of use.

Seeing "store exclusives" purchased and raffled for $400 in the same day seems to be what REALLY set some folks off.

Yep, its ugly if you may not point out what the actual normal going rate is of those records.
It's a great way to get a chance of wining records you may not otherwise be able to get.
But they could be way more ethical if they wouldn't allow for items to be sold for more than an extra 10% of normal selling value.
You cant tell me that you have so much trouble in hosting a raffle to justify such a huge mark up/profit.
Don't buy into overpriced raffles

Majority of what I've seen from tmr in that group is highly overpriced. I get you get a deal if you win but I don't get where some people get these values.

Ha. Just found out that this particular POSTTD was bought off of someone here on the Swirl. Not much we can do about people cherry picking here I suppose. If you care where your vinyl goes, or are considering cutting a deal, you might want to start cross referencing prospective buyers against this page. Of course, its perfectly okay not to give a rat's ass.

Well, was it bought recently with the intent to raffle or was it bought in the past?

I guess it's buy or beware.
Of the few I bought into, the one I won was from a solid dude.
I believe he's around these parts.
Even then, with all I pumped into it I think I only save maybe $10 plus whatever shipping would be.

It should right itself soon. The admins over there are stand up fellas and are tweaking the guidelines to avoid price-gouging and encourage transparency. If nothing else, people will eventually smarten up.

I believe some people, who will remain nameless, are starting to "smarten up".
They've suddenly gotten extremely chatty in other collector circles as if to cover their ass.
They're suddenly outspoken crusaders of fair pricing and anti-flipping.
It's pathetic.

I followed that group for about 2 weeks until I got sick of the constant barrage of raffles and such. I reckon if I have any trading left in me, I will do it here on the Swirl where it all started for me.

Yeah, same here. I haven't had anything to sell in a long time, finally got down to my "gotta keep it" collection and, well... Gotta keep it. But when the day comes I need to sell again you can bet it'll be right here, where it all started for me.

Joined out of intrest stuck around a bit, after having a couple goes decided not for me, plus price per ticket is getting silly most of the time
So im out of that group and will offer anything i have to trade here or through the record groups on face book
