Tons of Fake Autographs on eBay

Post by shaneoftheroad »

Several people are being taken in by huskyrecords1986 on eBay. But a quick Google search showed what is painfully obvious by his listings, the autographs are fake as hell. If you know someone bidding on one of these, pull them back from the precipice.

P.S. I know most everyone here is opposed to buying autographs on eBay anyway, just wanted to give a heads up.

Thanks for the heads up Shane. Always good to know what sellers to avoid. I think we also have a thread for this.

Sorry, how do you know they're fake?

I'm not saying they're not fake, just curious. Aside from having 405 different signed albums...

I wouldn't believe it was real unless I got it in person or if Ara gave it to me :-)

I did a search on his username. His name pops up everywhere for selling fake autographs. In one instance someone bought one from him specifically to have it verified. It was fake.

Sounds about right.

I've only bought autographs a couple of times. A couple of things from Julien's Auctions in LA which all have provenance or authentication. And some game used and signed hockey things straight from the NHL team.

In this persons defense they are selling them as having "writing on them" not as being "signed by the artist". However; it is deceitful and is a good example of why you should always reading the entire description of an item on eBay BEFORE you bid on it. And research the sellers history and the other items they are selling and have sold. If anything doesn't seem right its probably not and if is too good to be true it probably is. You can also send them a question if you're not sure.

Yeah, totally fake. There is no way one person has all of those albums signed by those artist and is selling them for less then $10. If you look, almost all of them have the same slant to them "autograph". Dead give away they were signed by the same person.

I would never buy an autographed item from eBay. I just don't get it. The purpose of an autograph for me is to have a memento of when YOU met that person.

I once bought an autograph from someone else. But once I had it I realized what most of you say around here holds true. It really doesn't mean much to me. The used pick I got from Jack's Bridgestone show means much more to me personally.

I once bought a Joanna Newsome record for my wife. Used in a store. She opens it and within seconds says, "Oh cool it's autographed!" I hadn't even noticed.

So he listed a "signed" John and Yoko LP that was released in 1984...

Man, that dude really padded his feedback. There must be 100 of the same feedback from the same high bidder on the first page of results. I think it's bullshit that eBay will now allow your feedback number to be private making it even more difficult to sniff out shill bidders. I like the good ole days when you could see who you were bidding against. It's an auction, seeing the other bidders is half the fun! It's not like folks wear blinders in a real auction.....

Dude, best fake I've seen yet. Cool you paid extra to have it personalized.
