Who would you like to see on TMR?

Personally I'd like to see some 45s by: the Thread Counts, Brown Cardboard and Science Farm...

Thread Counts

The Rants finished up soon enough, and wound up getting a few laughs out of The Thread Counts set for reasons completely unrelated to the band’s actual performance. Brian Muldoon and Ben Blackwell make up this two-piece garage band, and immense amounts of giggling came from watching Muldoon once again make absolutely no facial expressions at all while he was drumming. As for the band itself – well, all of the covers The Thread Counts did were actually recognizable, and Blackwell’s guitar playing honestly has gotten somewhat better (though the band is smart enough to stick to pretty rudimentary covers to help him out in that department).

Science Farm

Dave Buick (Italy Records, The Go) and Dion Fischer (The Go, Godzuki) have opened a new independent record store next to the Magic Stick. The store, called Young Soul Rebels, is located above C-Pop on Woodward Ave. At the store’s opening party – which took place at the Magic Stick on July 4th – Jack White made a surprise appearance. White played a cover of “Louie Louie” with his nephew Ben Blackwell and longtime friend and mentor, Brian Muldoon. There was definately a resemblance to The Upholsterers, but this trio dubbed themselves The Science Farm.

I can't seem to dig up anything on this but I seem to think this was Jack White and Ben Swank. Probably completely off though.

I always had this weird idea in the back of my head to put out Thread Counts on Pug Face Records. It would probably be alot like Tin Knocker I where it would be very limited and very hard to come by. hahaha. That would be awesome.

Ben Swank & Friends? That would be one awesome compilation LP. Every track Ben plays drums for a cacophony of garage rock and blues artists. That would be awesome.

It would be fun to see the Bens put something out...

There is a German band with Konstantin Gropper, "Get Well Soon" that is pretty much invisible here in the States. iTunes used to have a couple of their songs and those seem to have disappeared. Anyways, it's unique sound that would be a decent TMR fit (I think).

....and....

the Civil Wars. I came across a cover they did of a Leonard Cohen song (dance me to the end of love) recently and it's wonderful. And it turns out they are a Nashville band.

I want to see Ozzy, Dylan and Jack all have a few drinks (or tokes) and crank out some very fuked up toons... spin it on some tri-color glow in the dark cosmo vinyl that you have to hand spin backwards at 45rpm otherwise you get the beatles saying 'smoke pot, smoke pot, everybody smoke pot' backmasked if you play it forwards.... When you turn out the lights the GITD stuff says "Ozzy and Dylan plz bow before me", signed III....

Ok, I better lay off the OJ and Grey Goose...
