"Elephant" Tribute Album! CALLING ALL MUSICIANS!

Post by shaneoftheroad »

I know a lot of us here (myself included) are musicians with access to decent recording equipment. Just for fun, who wants to put together a Stripes tribute album for 2012? Maybe we can make it a yearly thing. Who wants in? I volunteer not only for participation but also for organizing the thing. Discuss!

I'd love to!
How will we acquire the rights to the songs?

I'm in if I can get a nice enough sounding recording.

...and by nice enough, I mean not just the quality of audio but also quality of my playing/singing.
Hey, it's just a fucking record. Chill.

OK, cool! One last question and we can start working out the logistics. I think we should recreate an album and I think the first (and most obvious) album we should do is "Elephant". You know they'll be re-releasing it soon and this would coincide nicely. What do you think? Yay? Nay?

Just a quick note, you don't have to recreate the songs exactly. Any interpretation would work. Acoustic guitar, piano, xylophone, skiffle, anything. Just make it yours.

okay, okay...let's just take this back a bit for a second. I just went to wikipedia and looked up Elephant and see there's "Two bonus Japanese tracks" listed on the track listing...where can I find downloads of these?!

Looks like it's the two B-sides "Who's To Say" and "Good To Me".

"Elephant" Tribute Album (CALLING ALL MUSICIANS!)

Post by shaneoftheroad »

OK, I'm gonna go ahead and call it. Let's do "Elephant", guys. Here is the track listing. Choose a song (first come, first choice). If we don't get enough people to fill out the album, we'll come back around and see if anyone wants to do more than one.

To be fair, I'll wait a couple posts before I make my own choice. Here are your choices!

1. "Seven Nation Army"
2. "Black Math"
3. "There's No Home for You Here"
4. "I Just Don't Know What to Do with Myself"
5. "In the Cold, Cold Night"
6. "I Want to Be the Boy to Warm Your Mother's Heart"
7. "You've Got Her in Your Pocket"
8. "Ball and Biscuit"
9. "The Hardest Button to Button"
10. "Little Acorns"
11. "Hypnotize"
12. "The Air Near My Fingers"
13. "Girl, You Have No Faith in Medicine"
14. "Well It's True That We Love One Another"

As you choose, just copy and paste the track listing with your name beside your song choice. Once all songs are taken we'll organize further. Have at it!
