I think, largely, the collective opinion of disappointment regarding anything Jack has done besides TWS is because some people can't really handle change, and they just want more and more and more Elephants and Icky Thumps and White Blood Cells, when ultimately that's not the mindset Jack is in, never mind Meg quietly quitting the music industry. We need to judge what he's doing on its own merits, and not on a "is-it-better-than-a-stripes-album" basis, because that Jack's dead and this is the Jack we have now.
